About Us

Background

I’m thrilled to share my deep knowledge of the Wadi Rum Protected Area. My involvement in tourism goes back as long as I can remember.

Growing up in Wadi Rum, my family was among the first to offer guided tours and camping. Decades of experience have honed our attention to detail and the diversity of tours we offer.

From jeep excursions and trekking to scrambling and sand dune surfing, our unique and customized tours cater to all our guests’ needs. Join us by the campfire in our dining tent to savor tea, Zarb (underground booking) and Bedouin stories.

Khaled Sabbah Atieg

Born and raised in the heart of Wadi Rum Badia (desert), my childhood was a blend of racing across local sand dunes, exploring the desert’s secrets, and conquering the area’s majestic mountains.

Guided by our wise elders, I learned the ancient ways of desert living and embraced the customs of our ancestors. The cornerstone of this heritage is Bedouin hospitality, a tradition of paramount importance.

This time-honored tradition continues to be the essence of Bedouin life and serves as the very bedrock upon which I have built my camp. It is our heartfelt wish that your visit to our ‘desert home’ will be an unforgettable and a deeply meaningful Wadi Rum experience.

Our Team

I’m not alone in this endeavor. Our camp is supported by a dedicated team of local clansmen, all committed to the smooth operation of our camp and the tours we offer.

We are passionate about passing down the knowledge entrusted to us by our elders, along with the expertise we’ve gathered over the years, to the next generation. This ensures the continuity of our traditions and the delivery of exceptional experiences.

During the peak seasons of fall and spring, our team expands to include additional Bedouin members from Rum Village. Each one shares our unwavering dedication to providing top-tier tourism services.

Our Camp "Khaled's Camp"

Our camp offers an intimate and secluded experience, complete with well-maintained restroom facilities. We provide a range of sleeping accommodations to suit your preferences:

  1. Bedouin Tents: Immerse yourself in the iconic Bedouin culture by staying in a ‘bait al shar,’ or ‘house of hair,’ known for the use of goat hair in its construction. Private tents are available, accommodating groups of up to 6 people. We also offer family tents tailored to the needs of larger groups or families.

  2. Sand Dune Accommodations: For the adventurous spirits, sleeping under the desert stars is a magical experience that everyone should try at least once in a lifetime.

  3. Private Cave: Seeking greater seclusion? We have a private cave located behind the camp, where you can retire after dinner.

In total, we offer 18 rooms, each equipped with comfortable mattresses and cozy blankets. For families, we have a dedicated play area where children can safely enjoy the sand dunes or climb the small hill near the camp—both areas meticulously maintained for cleanliness and safety.

Location

Our camp is nestled 12 km away from Rum Village, positioned within one of the Wadi Rum Protected Area’s most enchanting spots for both sunrise and sunset views.

This location offers a tranquil escape while remaining close to exceptional hiking, trekking, and climbing sites. For those seeking even more peace and solitude, the nearby Wilderness Zone beckons, providing an unparalleled sense of tranquility.

Our Food

In the heart of the desert, the tradition of welcoming wayfarers into Bedouin tents has been cherished for generations. In our camp, we’ve woven this timeless Bedouin hospitality into every facet of our tours, ensuring that all our guests experience the utmost in warmth and care.

Savor Authentic Bedouin Flavors

For those embarking on tours that include a night at our camp, we offer authentic Bedouin meals, such as the renowned “Zerb” – a delectable blend of meat and vegetables cooked to perfection in a sand pit.

Delightful Breakfast and Lunch

Our breakfast and lunch offerings include an assortment of pita bread, yogurt, cheese, jam, olive oil, and zattar (thyme), all thoughtfully prepared.

Refreshment Included

Every package includes a supply of water and the comforting embrace of traditional Bedouin “shay” or tea, ensuring that your journey is as refreshing as it is flavorful.
