Wadi Rum Real Bedouin Life Experience Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival, Jeep Tour & Overnight in Desert Camp

Begin your journey in Rum Village, where you’ll be welcomed with a warm cup of traditional Bedouin tea.

After a short briefing, meet your guide and set off on an unforgettable Jeep adventure into the heart of Wadi Rum. Your first stop is Lawrence’s Spring, a historic site offering beautiful views over the desert. Continue to the red sand dunes of Wadi Umm Ishrin, where you can climb the dunes and try sandboarding. Next, explore Khazali Canyon, home to ancient Nabataean and Thamudic inscriptions dating back thousands of years.

Then visit the Small Natural Bridge, a scenic rock formation perfect for a short climb and photos. The journey continues to Lawrence’s House, followed by a stop at the unique Mushroom Rock formation. Afterward, enjoy a hike through Abu Khashabah Canyon, where you can also experience more sandboarding. Here, you’ll take a break and enjoy a freshly prepared traditional Bedouin lunch.

In the afternoon, visit the impressive Um Fruth Rock Bridge, a 20-meter-high arch you can climb for panoramic views. On the way, stop at the interesting Chicken Rock formation.

As the day winds down, return to our desert camp and enjoy tea on our sunset platform before indulging in a Bedouin-style dinner. Spend the evening stargazing or relaxing by the bonfire.

Day 2: Bedouin Life Experience & Overnight with a Local Bedouin Family

After breakfast at the camp, you will transfer deeper into the desert to visit a local Bedouin family.

Upon arrival, you will be welcomed into their traditional home with tea and coffee. You’ll be introduced to the family and their way of life, experiencing genuine Bedouin hospitality.

During your stay, you will actively participate in daily activities such as:

Preparing traditional Bedouin tea and coffee over the fire
Baking bread on the saj (shrak bread)
Assisting in cooking traditional dishes like zarb or mansaf
Collecting firewood and helping prepare the evening campfire
Feeding animals or joining a short herding walk
Learning how to wear the traditional keffiyeh
Writing your name in Arabic
Enjoying storytelling around the fire

Will we stay in a modern hotel or an authentic camp?

You will stay in a traditional Bedouin home (tent) located in the heart of the Wadi Rum desert. In accordance with ancient Bedouin customs and deep respect for privacy, the living arrangements are separated: men stay in the men’s section of the tent, and women stay in the women’s section.

What kind of traditional food will be served?

You will share traditional meals with the family, which may include iconic dishes such as Zarb (food cooked in an underground oven) or Mansaf. You will also learn to prepare traditional Bedouin tea and coffee over an open fire and help bake bread on a Saj or make traditional Shrak bread.

Can I participate in daily Bedouin activities?

Yes, the tour is highly interactive. Daily activities include:

Collecting firewood for the evening campfire.
Assisting in the preparation and cooking of traditional dishes.
Joining family members for short walks to herd goats or camels.
Helping to feed and provide water for the animals.
Learning to wear the traditional Keffiyeh and writing your name in Arabic.
